Places Available

Hut Facilities Include:

  • Communal bunks (10 mattresses)

  • A few old pots, pans, and cutlery

  • Small water tank – limited supply (may be empty in summer)

  • Fireplace (not to be used in summer due to fire risk)

  • Long-drop toilet (please bring your own toilet paper)

 

Hut Rules – Please Respect the Following:

  • No outside fires (use hut fireplace only when permitted)

  • No camping

  • No drugs or alcohol

  • No mountain bikes

  • No unauthorized vehicles on the mountain

  • Take all rubbish and food scraps with you upon departure

 

What to Bring:

  • Free Parking is available at the base of Maunga Hikurangi

  • Dress in Layers – Temperatures vary from chilly mornings to warm afternoons

  • Bring a Raincoat – Weather can be unpredictable; pack a lightweight, waterproof one

  • Wear Comfortable Footwear – Sturdy shoes are recommended

  • Essential Gear – Bring a hat for sun or cold protection

  • Water – The hut uses rainwater collection; levels may be low in summer, so bring extra
