SUnrise Experience
The Te Urunga-Tu — Sunrise Tour offers a unique and unforgettable experience to greet the dawn in the land of the first light.
Watch the world awaken surrounded by nine larger-than-life Māori carvings, sacred cultural treasures of the Ngāti Porou people. Your expert Ngāti Porou guide will take you through the story behind each carving: who they represent, what they hold, and why they stand where they stand.
With roots in the Māori creation story, to when Maui Tikitiki-a-Taranga slowed the sun, gifted us fire, and fished Te Ika a Maui from the sea, this is a chance to come hear our history, explore our land, and meet the descendants of Maui on Maunga Hikurangi.
